[Mep-dev] SBMS Transverter Test Plan, and San Diego Microwave Group meeting tonight

Bob - Thanks for the comments. The transverter I tested was one I happened to have here that I built years ago and knew it would have a narrow response. This week  I plan  to characterize the SBMS unit which Michelle delivered to me at our SDMG meeeting last evening. Some of the discussions about the testing at our meeting l;ast night brought up the fact that  the bandpass of any IF radio or unit following the transverter also will have to be included eventually.

Thanks Kerry for the work and the nice write up. The transverter's IF
filter is too narrow and has poor group delay across the needed pass
band as a result. We have 10 Mhz allocation bidirectional for earth
to space and space to earth and 100 MHz world wide terrestrial. But
the pictures provided show the filter is really too narrow even for
the 10 MHz allocation. It really does need to be nearly flat with
group delay characteristics as constant as possible across any
bandwidth chosen.

Thank you to Kerry Banke N6IZW for the test setup (outlined in the document).
