The ATOM 330 is capable of doing 64 bit OS's but only in the D945GCLF2
model. Both are fine. Like Michelle I have multiples. I built two
home computers for email and checking (Quicken that run winblows and
those are D945GCLF and run winblows 32 or ubuntu. Shann really loves
the little cases. I have two D945GCLF2's. They dual boot XP64 and
ubuntu 64. The procedure to do the BIOS update is straightforward, but
NOT usual.
Go to the intel site. Download the ISO and burn it onto a disk. Boot
form the disk and answer the on screen questions. LEAVE THE DISK IN CD
ROM DRIVE and reboot. ONLY THEN is the image taken off the CD rom and
flashed. After the second pass, you may remove it and then boot.
These are fun and capable and we need low power and low footprint since
all of the heavy lifting will be done by the FPGA anyway. They have
GigE and decent support for it.
More to follow. Now we can support the fight between Intel and ARM
internally within our group!
