I am not sure if we have any of those rotating feeds in stock at the San Diego Microwave Group, but I can ask. I know that those feeds are pretty slick. Let me see what I can find out.

Michelle and group,

This was supposed to go to the list. Instead it went just to Michelle.

Sorry about that, Michelle.

=====

I would do omni directional antennas for the beaconing and APRS parts
then switch to small beams and rotors personally.

Quallcom was using a rotating feed for their 11 Ghz truck dispatching
systems that we have been modifying for 10Ghz usage. Is there any way
we could use that type of antenna the directional portion of this or
is it not feasible to adapt that feed and for 3 and 5 Ghz? If we can
keep the directional antenna as small as possible, but be able to handle
and focus the power levels that the group is proposing, I think we could
use the same type of stepping motor to control direction even if we take
this system mobile.

We could use APRS or simple beacons to get bearings and heading, then
after that it would be up to the software to control antenna pointing
and switching of antennas for the contacts.

Just some rambling thoughts.
